Natick's first Art in Bloom!
November 17th, 2019
The culmination of my residency in Natick was to create, organize, direct, market, promote and run a year-end event that would promote the arts in Natick and prove that it is the Cultural Capital of Metrowest Boston!
I did my ultimate Art in Bloom event here on November 17th, 2019 and we had a sold-out crowd! I reached out to prestigious Walnut Hill School for the Arts to join us in performing a chamber music concert. I reached out to Natick Garden Club to join us in creating the floral arrangements. I reached out to Natick Co-op Playgroup to run our children's section.
IT WAS A PHENOMENAL SUCCESS!!!
***Hired by the Natick Center Cultural District for my 2019 Residency, here's what the Executive Director, Athena Pandolf, (pictured with me above) had to say afterward...***
"CONGRATULATIONS!!!
WOW, what an amazing event you put on, nice job and way to go!
Fabulous at promoting and getting in touch with the right people, and so many came out for it!! Tremendous and we're thrilled with the turnout!
We should plan on Art in Bloom next year!...TREMENDOUS job, super great, really you did wonderful!
We were extremely grateful for the GIGANTIC photo in the Calendar section of the Metrowest Daily News Sunday Edition
We received hundreds of dollars in gift cards as donations from strong community partners Wegman's, Stop & Shop and Roche Bros to pay for our flower purchase. We bought the flowers at these stores and then turned shopping carts full of flowers into...
GORGEOUS FLORAL CREATIONS!
Natick Garden Club ladies collaborated with me on creating 20 beautiful vases full of flowers to interpret my art. I am very honored to have them join me for Art in Bloom!
***Feedback from Sue Mandell from Natick Garden Club***
"Thank YOU, Kira. It was a wonderful afternoon. What a treat to work with such outstanding, vivid and gorgeous photographs."
NATICK GARDEN CLUB
FLORAL DESIGNERS
One of the awesome floral designers from Natick Garden Club with her beautiful arrangements!
I have performed on the piano for over 40 years and am a State Winner, along with being a Gold and Bronze Medal winner. I received a Dedham Cultural Council grant for my piano performance and have performed on the piano in concerts throughout the Greater Boston area. I performed the "Waltz of the Flowers" by Tchaikovsky from his "The Nutcracker Suite" at my Natick Art in Bloom. We were celebrating me as a visual artist and a performing artist!
Very honored to welcome prestigious Walnut Hill School for the Arts to my Art in Bloom!
They performed string quartet selections by Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert, along with piano trios by Beethoven and Antonin Dvorak.
We had a delightful setup where people could browse my art and flower arrangments and then take a seat to hear the concert. We had a PowerPoint presentation in the background, which showed my still photos of some of my favorite flower images, along with a description of me as the Artist-In-Residence.
We LOVE children, and had a fantastic kid craft and kid-friendly Art in Bloom arrangements...and a delicious chocolate table!

As part of my Natick Artist-in-Residency requirements, I engage the public in community art projects when I attend events.
Natick Night was only a couple days after a terrible fire destroyed numerous downtown businesses. I wanted the Fire Dept and the businesses to know that the entire Natick Community is behind them and helping them so I created a
HELPING HANDS = HEALING HANDS
art project and we gave the finished product to the Fire Dept afterwards.
THANKS to everyone who participated-your artistic efforts were so appreciated!
